Schooled in the rhythms of the world and raised on the sounds of R&B, rock, and jazz, percussionist Doug Hinrichs provides just the right amounts of global rhythmic flavors to any recording or live project. Doug arranges, records and performs modern percussion flavored by world traditions.

Much more than just another bongo or conga player, Doug uses his knowledge of the rhythms of the world and ethnic percussion to create musical experiences in any setting, any style, any ensemble. His creative approach provides the needed dose of world rhythms to any studio recording; and when playing live percussion onstage, Doug compliments his sensitivity with an animated and exciting performance style. He brings the same energy and experience to his role as percussion teacher to his students.

An accomplished member of the New York percussion community, Doug's performance experience includes positions in several Broadway shows -- including a full-time position in the hit musical "In The Heights", and concerts with artists from a multitude of styles and settings. A recent performance highlight: with Bobby McFerrin at Jazz At Lincoln Center. As for studio percussion, his tracks have been on jingles for ESPN, PowerAde, The New York Knicks, and Miller Lite Beer. His credits as a world music composer include placements of his pieces on the USA, CBS, and ABC television networks.

Doug is also the inventor of Latin Percussion's One-Handed Triangle and the designer of Toca Percussion's Rawhide Shakers. He is a Latin Percussion, Sabian, and Remo endorser.
